History

AWILCO-MULTIPLEX, former AWILCO and MULTIPLEX, was founded in 1971 by Aksel Willumsen. The purpose of the company was to act as the sole agent in the Nordic countries for the German manufacturer Frieman & Wolf, better known as FRIWO. FRIWO manufactured the first wall outlet power supply in 1971, and ever since FRIWO has been a significant supplier for AWILCO.

By the late 1970's rechargeable batteries from Japanese FURUKAWA was added to the product range, and shortly after the brand MULTIPLEX evolved, resulting a dual sided sales and marketing effort, consisting of FRIWO chargers and power supplies and FRIWO branded NiCd batteries, and parallel to this, MULTIPLEX chargers and power supplies with NiCD batteries from FURUKAWA. This was done successfully until the late 1980's when FRIWO took over BARTEC-COMPIT.

The beginning
Since 1981 MULTIPLEX has existed as an own company, undergoing a process of bringing FRIWO synergetic products to the market.

In the 1970's the primary market was power supplying calculators with red lights - then came the LCD calculator and solar power was enough - no power supply needed.

In the 1980's the first mobile phones came along - providing new markets.

Over the years we have worked consciously to position the FRIWO brand in the Nordic area as reliable manufacturer, providing excellent quality products.

By September 1st 1998, Niels Willumsen took over the role of managing director for AWILCO. The clear goal at that time was to strengthen and develop the image of FRIWO in the geographical area through an even closer cooperation with customers and FRIWO.

The sharply increasing requirements for external and internal power supplies, to be both efficient and to be low on standby power is posing strong challenges to the manufacturers, and we are very proud to work with FRIWO, who is absolutely in the frontline of these developments with their power supplies and chargers.

We work strongly to materialize our mission towards energy - and environmental saving solutions and products, and we look forward to being a part of the ongoing development in the power supplying arena in the years to come.

Joined efforts - benefits to the customers
The companies AWILCO and MULTIPLEX joined efforts as per January 1, 2010. Through this we will appear as one supplier to our partners and we are able to offer an easier access to our joined and increased product range.

Today, AWILCO-MULTIPLEX supplies fuel cells, DC/DC, AC/DC, DC/AC Converters, Antennas and Li-Ion/NiCd/NiMH battery packs. All of it with focus on the mobile requirement for power supply.  

AWILCO-MULTIPLEX works strongly to materialize our mission towards energy- and environmental saving solutions and products and lives up to the European demands for WEEE (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment), Battery regulatives and ErP (Energy related Products).
