Already prior the global warming discussions or power consumption, FRIWO took responsibility for the environment and FRIWO is constantly working on non-polluting solutions. This is done by focusing exclusively on switchmode technology. Linears no longer meet the growing requirements of the conservation agensies, which are demanding high efficiency and low power losses in stand-by mode for power supplies.
In 1992 the USA started a certification program for extremely energy-efficient products: ENERGY STAR Today the ENERGY STAR program includes almost each and every electronic device. In Europe the EU implemented the CoC (Code of Conduct) under which the manufacturers commit themselves on a voluntary basis to limit the power losses of their products; from January 1 2007, onwards, power supplies with an output of up to 50W must not exceed a power loss of 0,5W in standby mode. In addition, the EuP regulation (Energy using Products) examines the entire life circle of a product and the resources for design, production, distribution to the point of recycling. The EuP regulation becomes obligatory in 2010 with the threshold values of the ENERGY STAR program. Read more about ErP: ErP It is therefore vital for most of the global vendors of power supplies to comply with the fiercest threshold values. FRIWO already has the know-how to engineer power supplies with high efficiency ratio and low standby losses. Learn more at www.energystar.gov
RoHS: In July 1, 2006, all electronic products sold in the EU had to be in compliance with the directive pertaining to RoHS. RoHS stands for "Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment. It restricts the use of lead and five other hazardous substances commonly used in electronics products.
